Irrational feelings towards spending
There are some things that I really do not enjoying spending money on and I bring this up because I recently replaced my watch battery.
I have 2 Seiko watches that have been in need of new batteries for 2 years now. I hate paying for replacement batteries so much that I would rather spend 20X the amount and buy a new watch. They’re my favourite watches too, but my hate for paying for batteries far outweighs my love for them. How ridiculous is that???
I don’t even know why it brings me so much pain since it actually lets me do something I greatly enjoy, which is to wear my watch... completely irrational, I know!
I finally sucked it up and replaced ONE of the batteries a couple weeks ago - my Spring/Summer watch. I can defer this unpleasant experience for the second one when we hit Fall. The battery only cost me $20 at the end of the day, but it brought so much displeasure. Maybe I should have replaced them both at the same time - it’s double the cost but I think I hit a threshold of disdain that can’t be topped based on expense, and it would have saved me from having to do it again in the Fall... hm... next time...
