Looking for my lip balm runner up
You may know that I love Etude House's Honey Cera Repair Lip Balm - I raved about it here. While I can order them from Amazon.com, after the exchange rate and shipping costs, it's just a biiiit more than I want to pay for lip balm. Luckily, friends and family have been going to Asia since I discovered it, and I've been able to keep my supply up, BUT, in the event I do run out, I need a back up.
Hence, my search for the next best thing. In the past few months I've been rotating between three lip balms: Rocky Mountain Soap Company's Green Apple Lip Butter, Etude House's Honey Cera Repair Lip Balm, and First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Lip Therapy. Hey, maybe I might find one I like better than Honey Cera.
My ultimate favourite is STILL Etude House - it goes on smooth and light, keeps my lips feeling soft and moisturized the longest, and gives me a light shine without going overboard. The others feel too goopy, and leaves me lips feeling overly greasy, or actually makes me lips feel drier over time. That said, Rocky Mountain's Root Beer (tried last year) is a close second favourite - its taste is AMAZING, and compared to the Green Apple and Cherry that I've tried before, it doesn't feel goopy. (I still have the Coconut Vanilla one to try). The Green Apple one even looks lumpy over time. I also like their natural ingredients - I'm actually not sure about Etude House's ingredients. Surprisingly, I don't like First Aid's, AT ALL. I thought I would because I enjoy most of their products, and I like the applicator tip, but the ingredients seem to separate over time because when I squeeze it out, there's liquid and then the balm part, and the minty feeling seems to make my lips drier after I put them on. I just don't like it.
If you're looking for other lip balms to try, this is a good link to check out - they even get down to what ingredients to watch out for, and provide a list of product that have them. I learned from the site that Smith's Rosebud Salve comes in a tube form with the angled applicator tip that I love so much (First Aid's has this same applicator tip), so that's a bonus because I stopped using them only because they came in pots and I had to use my finger. Going to keep my eye out for this tube! Although I feel like I haven't seen the tube in Canada.. .if anyone knows where I can find this in Canada, please let me know!
For now, Rocky Mountain's Root Beer Lip Butter is probably going to be my go-to if I run out of Etude House.
