Hello

Welcome to my public thoughts on my personal life goals. In 2014, I set out to change my lifestyle, and I began with the best way I knew how - my closet. I share with you, how the road to Perfecting My Closet, is helping me achieve my ultimate life goals.

Need to keep reminding myself

Need to keep reminding myself

I often check back in on this great article in WhoWhatWear, where I hand selected some specific questions that really helped me in refining my wardrobe (see here) .

I'm still working on minimizing my wardrobe and when I'm on the fence about something, it can take me as long as a year to make up my decision. I have a 'Let go' of section in my Stylebook App and while that's helpful in letting me ponder (seeing if I still wear it, whether it works with other items, etc - almost like excuses to keep said item), I think the most important question I should remind myself is: Do I love this with my whole heart?

Maybe it's a bit extreme since there will always be items that we seem to 'have to have' out of function, but at the same time, I don't think those items would even be on a fence, messing up our emotions. We know what they're good for and we accept it. It's those pesky ones that tug at our heart strings - I have a few of those. And it's even worse when someone you love says they really like an item (this happened this past weekend when I was 95% decided on letting go of a dress when my husband walks by and says - "I like this dress!". Sigh.)

A large part of me almost kept it, until I went back to the article and was reminded of that important question. The answer was no - I used to, but not anymore. It's time to go.
