How many steps does it take to get to the end of your soles?
How long does it take for you to wear your shoes down to a point where they're falling apart?
I noticed in the last several years my flats all split at the heel where the shoe meets the sole. I'm starting to wonder if it's the way I step...
The value of my flats are in the range of $150-$250/$300 and it doesn't seem to matter how little or how much I spend on them, I get the same problem. In fact, I am hesitant to try flats that cost more than that because I don't think this is a 'get what you pay for' kinda deal. In fact, I am considering looking at less expensive options because of this.
My latest pair that have done this are my MbMj flats - I tracked how often I wore them since I got them in 2015 and I wore then 121 times. I don't walk a lot in them in a rough environments - I wear them to work and that mostly consists of spending an average of 5-10 minutes outside between buildings, and the rest of the day inside the office.
So how does this happen? That's probably an accurate amount of time I wear a pair of flats over 3 years. Do your shoes fall apart after this amount of time? Am I expecting too much? I don't recall my shoes falling apart like this as a child. I know... I'm comparing to when I was a child when I wore sneakers more than anything else.. It's not rational, I know lol. I'm just bewildered!
I've now demoted these flats to only commute wear, and weekends where I really WILL start to wear them for long walks, and wear them outside a lot more.
My work flats are now going to be my Townshoe loafers - I'm interested to see how these do since the sole is a bit thicker. Maybe I just need to wear flats that have a bit of a thicker sole.. but that leaves a lot of cute flats out of reach for me =(
