One of my lifestyle goals is to simplify - not just minimizing, but also streamlining. I'm all about streamlining things. For my wardrobe, not only have I been letting go, but I'm also trying to get dressed with as little effort and time as possible. Planning ahead doesn't work for me, I've tried and for some reason it ends in panic. So I've chosen a different route.
I've entertained the capsule wardrobe but it doesn't really do it for me. It causes panic- again, I have no idea why, but it seems that planning too much in advance, induces anxiety. At least with my wardrobe; other areas of life, I need to plan - I have OCD.
The color palette deal is where it's at for me. The new pieces I'm choosing for staple items stay within the four colors I've chosen - black, navy, gray, and white/ivory and it just makes my life easier. I can't go wrong - almost. It's a nice feeling. I may not feel 100% sometimes, but even feeling 75% with little effort, makes the day go by easier when I'm not self-conscious about my outfit.
It seems silly to be so worried about what I wear since I'm all for being confident in my own skin, but I think there's a fine line of knowing yourself and being confident, versus, not giving a damn. The latter is not NOT the impression I want to give off, and I think feeling good about yourself is the first step to feeling confident.
Also, as I continue to purge and refine, I'm slowly noticing that I'm re-using outfits that just make me feel good about myself, but still comfortable. Priceless! That has never happened before - when I had more items, things would just get lost in my closet or laundry. Now, with less, I'm able to better see what I have and keep it in mind. I'm loving it! This morning, I wasn't sure what to wear but while I was brushing my teeth, I just decided to go with what worked two weeks ago and it was soooo easy.
