January 2017 bag round up
This year, I'm going to document my bag usage per month. For the month of January, I used my Lauren by Ralph Lauren tote in orange and navy, my pre-loved Speedy, my MANGO crossbody bag that I purchased last year in Seoul, another Lauren by Ralph Lauren bag - the Whitby satchel, and last but not least, a bag saved for holidays - my Michael Kors hobo.
As you know from last year, this was a heavily debated bag - when I I bought it on a whim, I was having trouble deciding whether to keep it. I'm so happy I did! While I predominantly use it for work (it's light as a feather), it's been really great as a weekend bag, and travel companion. The coated canvas just makes it completely care-free in any type of weather and is easy to clean. It's so great, that I'm glad I had bought two! ;)
Ah, my pre-loved Speedy 30 - there are no words to describe how much it. I think I love it more because it's pre-loved and I someone has already broken it in for me. If I bought a new one, I don't think I'd be taking it out much, let alone flying. I got it for an incredible steal and slowly refurbishing it has been a real pleasure. I've replaced the zipper pull, and lock and key (thanks to a wonderful friend). Next up, I will get it quoted to replace the lock tab - refurbishing may stop there as I think they will have to replace the entire panel and I'm not sure how I feel about losing the vintage materials.
My red MANGO crossbody - I bought this last year and it had been YEARS since I purchased a non-premium/contemporary brand. I love this bag for its color and function but the price definitely reflects the quality - the second time I used it, the lining split apart. Yes, it's an easy fix, but it is a reminder that you do get what you pay for. I still love it though - look at that shade of red! And it packs a ton since it's actually three compartments that have a lot of room to expand. Great for travel when sightseeing.
The Lauren by Ralph Lauren Whitby satchel - this was the bag that finally broke the GREAT BAG BAG of 2015. It's also my first introduction to the Lauren line of Ralph Lauren bags (life changing for when I'm looking for reasonably priced, no-fuss, and presentable bags). It's great quality and color, and I love the design of the tab closure on the side. It's also the first bag that made me really prefer gold hardware over silver.
And last but not least, I finished January by ringing in the Lunar New Year with my Michael Kors hobo. I love the shade of red on this bag but aside from holidays that involve red, this bag doesn't get much use. I don't know why. When I use it, I love it, and the color always makes me happy. I think it's likely due to its hobo style - I'm very much a satchel and tote girl so I rarely think to use my hobos. Regardless, it's a much appreciated bag and even though it only gets used a few days of the year, I don't have any immediate plans to let it go.
