Let the bidding begin!
As you know, I've been slowly purging my wardrobe and I've largely been donating my items as it can get tiresome to post things to sell. There's a lot of fake inquiries, no-shows, and negotiating, and it can really put a stall on things.
I recently discovered the community sales groups of Facebook, and even more recently, the bidding groups! I'm still new to it but it seems a lot of the groups are set up for 24 hour bid periods and you can state your pick-up location (typically within your neighbourhood, for member convenience); the groups are very strict in upholding their rules, minimizing unreliable buyers and also shady sellers. To try my hand at it, my first item up for auction was a Victoria's Secret tote I received free with purchase, and it was a great experience. I received 4 bids within 24 hours and the buyer was great in setting up a time and communicating the details of pick-up. As a group, it holds people accountable so I feel very safe and assured that if an item sells, it will sell.
Definitely read group descriptions to maximize the value of your item as some groups sell specifically premier designer, while other groups may be of contemporary designers, or even household items. Read each group's rules carefully - they seem to be more or less similar, but there are variances, such as BIN (Buy It Now) options. Keep in mind that if an item doesn't sell, some groups ask that you don't post it again for a couple of weeks so as not to clutter other posts. Very organized and people seem to be quite agreeable in keeping the rules. I'm very impressed, and have already posted my second item up for bids.
